Hello List,
I am looking for a family that should be in Greenwood Co during the 1860 census. They are Thomas ASHPOLE (about 33) and Mary Anne nee SQUIRES (about 31) from England, with three children; John born 1848 in England, Charles born 1855 in Ohio, and Elizabeth Ann born 1 Jun 1860 in Greenwood Co KS. In looking through the 1860 census on Ancestry.com, I have not found any Ashpole's in Greenwood County. I checked for any families from England and only found one, a W. SQUIRES family in Eureca Twp that was from England. This could be a brother or other relative of Mary Anne. I have no confirmation at this time. The ASHPOLE family was still in Greenwood Co in March of 1864, as this is where Mary Anne (SQUIRES) ASHPOLE died. About 1864/5, Thomas married Martha Jane ELLISON and they with Thomas' three children moved to Oregon.
I would like to find more information in Kansas on Mary Anne (my gg grandmother) and Elizabeth Ann (my great grandmother) ASHPOLE. I would be very pleased to hear from someone.
