LaVerta Zarnowski

Salinas, Calif.--LaVerta Zarnowski, 73, of Salinas, Calif., a retired Salinas
High School Teacher and counselor, died Saturday (Feb. 29, 1992) at her
home.

She was born Aug. 5, 1918 in Newton, Harvey County, the daughter of Jake
and Mazie (Roadenbaugh) Zarnowski.

She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Calif. She
received her counseling credentials from San Jose (Calif.) State University.
She taught English and literature in Salinas for 32 years.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and of the state and national
retired teachers' organizations.

Survivors include one brother, Clarence Zarnowski of Halstead; and one
sister, Margaret Henson of Dana Point, Calif.

No funeral service is planned. Cremation and inurnment were at Garden of
Memories, Salinas, under the direction of Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Central Coast, Salinas, or the
donor's favorite charity.
