Victor E. Chesky Jr.
HALSTEAD -- Victor E. Chesky Jr., 73, retired owner of Chesky Insurance Agency, died Wednesday (Jan. 12, 2000).

He raised Arabian horses. He received the Harold Rea award, Lions and Masonic Lodge 50 year pins and honorary recognition award with Kansas Arabian Horse Club.

He was president of Hertzler Research Foundation, organized First Halstead Industrial Foundation board, Halstead bank board of directors, Halstead Hospital board of trustees, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and school board, all of Halstead.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include: wife, Dee Checky of Halstead; three sons, Bill Checky of Phoenix, Eric Checky of St. Helena, Calif., and Victor Chesky III of Hunt, Texas; one sister, Jane Welch of Halstead; and five grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Halstead.

Memorials have been established with Dr. V. E. Chesky Memorial at University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Chesky Memorial at Hertzler Research Foundation or Chesky Memorial Foundation at Wichita Collegiate School in care of Hillside Funeral Home West in Wichita.
