I am a Grant, originally from Harvey County. What is the race of Orison
Grant? I've had others in my line of Grant's say that Orison was of African
American descent and that he took the Grant surname from my ancestors (who
moved to Kansas from Ohio, following a short stint in Sedalia, MO). I do
remember seeing Orison's headstone in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.

Hello,
Mary Rickman Anderson Grant was born in 1835 in Tennessee. She married
David Anderson in Ohio. As they traveled to Kansas, David hid her in a
false bottom of the wagon whenever they encountered 'trouble'.
I am Carrie and James Ramsey's great grandaughter and have several photos
I'd love to share.
Here are the photos I have attached.
1. Mary Rickman Anderson Grant and Lucy Mayfield
2. Her Carrie Anderson and husband James W. Ramsey
3. One of their daughters -my grandmother Zola Ramsey (Brassfield)
Foster/she married twice,
4. Mary and Olive Ramsey, I believe
5. My mother, Armenta (Brassfield)Blackwell.

Regards,
Andrea Blackwell
