THE ONAGA HERALD 28 Sept.. 1905 Hurt in Runaway
Last Saturday night while Tom Abel was coming home from Emmett he met
with an accident which shook him up considerable. In the morning of
the same day B. T. Conaway had driven to St. Marys and while going
down a hill the holdback gave way and let the buggy run upon the
horse which frightened it so it ran away. That evening, Mr. Abel was
driving the same horse, and when near the Henry Schwarz farm he
overtook a couple of young men from town who were walking home from
the steam shovel and who asked permission to ride. As he pulled up
on the lines to stop the horse, the buggy ran forward a little which
again frightened the horse and it ran away throwing Tom out of the
buggy, dislocating one of his arms and other wise bruising him up. He
is able to be about, but has remained at home this week.
