William Tobin.

William TOBIN was born Nov. 2, 1831, in Tiperary county, Ireland, and died May 23(Could be 28), 1913 at his home three and one half miles south of Mayetta. He was married to Miss Anna Stacia SLATTERY in 1856. He came to America in 1868 and settled in New York state. He lived there two years, when again he felt the call of the west and came to Kansas in 1870 and settled in Atchison county. After spending 15 years in that county he came to Jackson county and located three and one half miles south of Mayetta where he has lived ever since.
Mr. Tobin was a grand good citizen and a character we will none of us forget. He was for all that was good and upbuilding, and up to the last, before going to his Maker, worked to that end.
He is survived by his wife and nine children; John of Texas, who is supervisor of the Katy Ry. system; Mary CLELAND, of Renfrow, Okla.; James, of Oklahoma; Patrick, of Kansas City; Mrs. Ellen DUNN and Mrs. Margaret CROWLEY, of Kansas City; Andrew and Emma, who are still at home; and Edward of Mayetta. One child died in infancy.
The funeral services were held at the church, Rev. Father McKenna of Holton, officiating. The body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Hoyt Catholic Cemetery under the direction of J.M. Goheen, funeral director.
His five nephews, Ed, Jas., Will, John and Neal Slattery, and Pat Walsh were the pall bearers.
