An Accident and Death
Otto HEBBE, a number of years a resident of Perry, but for a few years past living in Lawrence, and working on the section for the Santa Fe, died Monday evening, July 11th, from injuries sustained on Saturday evening before. He with four others were on the hand-car when it ran into an open switch, carelessly left that way, and the jar of the car threw the men off. Otto HEBBE striking the back of his head and shoulders on the rail, which produced concussion of the brain. He was removed to his home and medical aid summoned, but he never regained consciousness. His untimely death in the prime of life is a sad blow to his wife and four children and his parents and brother. THey have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community. The remains were brought to Perry on Tuesday and the funeral services were held in the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. G. W. BRADEN and the burial took place at Oak Ridge cemetery.
Otto HEBBE was born in Chicago, Ill., Jan. 22, 1838(?), and has lived in Kansas a number of years. He was married in 1888 to Miss COPER(?) and to this union were born five children, four of whom are living.

Dr. McNEAL, of St. Joseph, Mo., is stopping a short time with his old friends, the SCHULZE family.

George Strange and wife have returned from Rossville, where he helped to harvest 200 acres of wheat.

R. INGLE, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. INGLE, is with Gen. Schafter's command in Cuba and was in the thick of the fight at Santiago.
