John BORNGARDNER, a farmer living near Bois D' Arc, Mo., committed suicide, Monday, by using three suicide methods, he first took poison, which proving too slow, he tried to shoot himself, and then, as a last resort, hanged himself in the kitchen. He left a wife and three grown children.
Frank COOK's two year old drank some lye nearly two months ago, while its mother was washing and its throat has lately grown so bad that the child could not take even milk in sufficient quantity to live on. It was brought to Dr. SMITH, who gradually dilated the esophagus until it could swallow, and it is hoped with repeated treatment of this kind, that permanent relief will follow. The parents made the common mistake of giving grease for a remedy when vinegar or a strong solution of soda would be better.
