William SPIVEY of Liberty, Mo., arrived in this city last Friday evening and remained until Sunday morning visiting his sister Mrs. A.B. MILLS. Bill was one of the "boys in blue" during the war, serving four and half years altogether, the last year was on the plains of Kansas looking after the Indians. His first vote for president was cast for Abraham LIncoln in 1860, at Kingston in that state, the only one cast for Lincoln there and we believe there were but ten others cast in the county, at that election. A company for the rebel army was being organized in that place at that time and when informed of the vote sought him out threatening to do him bodily harm. He was well acquainted with them and remarked, "boys you voted your principles and I voted mine. you may kill me, but you know I am armed and some of you will go with me." The matinee was infefinitely postponed.

More buildings are being erected in this city at this time than in any other town in the county.
