W.A. CLARK, our Republican candidate for representative in this district, was in town last Thursday. Mr. CLARK is a merchant, and is thororghly conversant with business matters and the needs of the people. In the judgment of the Times he would be a most desirable and safe man to send to the legislature.

Henry ABBUCHL, of Valley Falls was among the many visitors in town last Thrusday. He is the republican candidate for county treasurer. He has lived a long time in this county, and ther is not a single wrong act in his life that can be charged against him. He is very popular at home, is competent, and honest in every way. He is the man we want for treasurer.

Mrs. S.J. RANKIN, mother of Dr. and C.M. RANKIN fell from a porch at C.M RANKIN's home last Friday evening, striking on her left shoulder, breaking her collar bone. She is getting along as nicely as could be expected for one of her age.

Sheriff SWALLOW, the careful officer that he has proven in the past, was her last THrusday, ready to assist the picnic committee to quell any disturbance that might arise, but happy his services were not needed. Possibly his presence had a salutary effect on the crowd.

Miss Jessie FAIRHOLM, of Oskaloosa visited the family of E.S. EDMONDS Tuesday.

Thos. GILBERT left Tuesday for a three weeks visit to his old home in Wisconsin.
