FIRE.
We find fire to be quite a necessity to the human race. It is necessary in preparing a great deal of the food consumed by the people. It must be had to drive the iron horse across the continent and to speed the huge sea monsters across the seas. But let fire get away from you and mark the result. Such was the demonstration last Monday morning about 5:45 o'clock, when T.L. FITZPATRICK's house, better known as the C.L. THOMPSON, home, was discovered to be on fire. The alarm was given and in a short time a crowd of men were on the scene. It was soon seen that the fire had them bested, so work was begun in taking things out. Almost everything downstairs and part of upstairs was saved. The house and furniture were covered with twenty-two hundred dollars insurance. The fire started in the roof, supposedly from a spark from the flue and burned to the ground.
