The house occupied by John HARDING came near being burned to the ground Tuesday evening. Lem KNOWLTON who has been staying with John attempted to light a coal oil stove after considerable of the oil had run out, and but for the timely arrival of John the house would have been burned. It is thought that sickness has affected Lem's mind, he has been acting strangely of late. Mr. HARDING had to force him out of the room before he could extinguish the fire.
