Sarah Francis, daughter of Michael and Rebecca Harkins was born Aug., 10, 1867 in east Tennessee and departed this life after a short illness, Sept. 23, 1943, at Emanuel Hospital in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 76 years, 1 mo. and 12 days.
When a small child she moved with her parents to Springdale, Kansas, where she spent her young life. In 1888 she was united in marriage with Martin L. Vandruff.
To this union were born seven children, Eva, Delia, John and Monroe preceded her in death.
Mrs. Vandruff lived in McLouth many years where she made many friends. In 1917 she united with the Church of the Brethren at McLouth. She was an active and faithful member for many years and retained her membership in that same church until her death.
She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lila Pouppirt and family for the past 20 years, moving with them from Sioux City, Iowa to Portland, Ore. just two months ago.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Grover C. Vandruff of McLouth, Van Vandruff of Leavenworth, one daughter, Mrs. Lila Pouppirt, Portland, Oregon, 4 grandchildren besides other relatives and friends.
The funeral of Mrs. Vandruff was held Wednesday, at 2:00 p.m. at the Brethren church conducted by Rev. Ira N. H. Brammell. Interment at the McLouth cemetery.
