Rains fell over some parts of Kansas Wednesday evening. The rain was extremely local in its nature. A good rain fell at Holton, it sprinkled at Oskaloosa, water ran in the road three miles west of here, the dust was laid here and south of town a good rain fell.

Eddie FOREMAN came near losing his life last Saturday, while riding horseback. The horse reared up and fell backward with Ed on him and all that saved his life was that the horse turned its head around so that in falling its entire weight did not come down on Ed, who received a badly bruised hip and other injuries which are not serious but were painful for a time.

Mrs. A.J. BOWMAN is still quite poorly.

Miss Nettie HAWORTH has been helping in C.A. ZABRISKIE's store this week.

Mrs. Jennie MILLS has returned from a three weeks' visit with relatives in Missouri, at Braymer, Liberty and Kansas City.

Deputy sheriff Bob JONES and wife returned Tuesday from their visit at St. Joseph, Mo., with Bob's brother and family.

Frank DICK brought in a wagon load containing sixty-five big watermelons, Monday morning and delivered them at BROWN & DARK's.
