Misses Anna and Alta LOTT went to Topeka Friday evening for a visit with their brother and his family.
C.S. KATHAN, on of the wide-awake and well-to-do farmers of Williamstown vicinity, presented the Mirror man with two fine frying chickens Saturday, for which he has our thanks. Mr. KATHAN is engaged quite extensively in the poultry business. He is equipped with every convenience for raising poultry, and realizes well on the industry each year.
Frank SHEPHERD from souther Minnesota visited Mr. and Mrs. J.M. FOWLER last week, while on his way to western Kansas on land business. Mr. SHEPHERD is a cousin of Mrs. FOWLER.
The local paper should be found in every home. No children should grow up ignorant who can be taught to appreciate the home paper. It is said to be the stepping stone of intelligence in all those matters not to be found in books. Give your children a foreign paper which contains not a word about any person, place or thing, which they saw or perhaps ever heard of, and how could you expect them to be interested. But let them have the home paper and read of people whom they meet and of places of which they are familiar and soon an interest is awakened which increases with every arrival of the local paper. Thus a habit of reading is formed and those children will read the papers all their lives and become intelligent men and women, a credit to their ancestors, strong in knowledge of the world as it is today.
Little Frieda LEWIS is quite sick at her grandparents', Mr. and Mrs. C.L. THOMPSON. Mr. Lewis was called here yesterday from Leavenworth.
Miss Leah DOLAN of Clay Center arrived last week to visit a few days with her friend, Miss Edna RAINES. She returned home Monday morning.
