Mr. and Mrs. I.S. OWEN will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary, December 31, at their farm home seven miles southwest of Oskaloosa. They were married Dec. 31, 1889, by the Rev. L.D. PRICE, a pioneer Methodist minister, and began housekeeping on New Years, 1890, on the farm where they now live.
Mr. OWEN was born near Alton, Ill., and brought to Jefferson county, Kansas, by his parents in 1868. They settled on the farm Mr. and Mrs. OWEN now own. Mrs. OWEN, as Laura E. JOHNSON, was born near Valley Falls, and later moved to near Thompsonville, where they were married.
They joined the Methodist Church at Thompsonville in 1888, and a few years later transferred to the United Brethren Church at Midway Chapel. At present they hold their membership in the First United Brethren Church in Topeka. They have been Sunday School and church workers their entire married life. They will hold open house from 2 to 5 o'clock, Sunday, December 31, for their friends.
They will serve a dinner to their children and other near relatives at 1 o'clock.
