Obituary--Hatfield.
Hannah HATFIELD who has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Thos. McCRACKEN five miles northwest of Valley Falls since last April died last Saturday. The cause of her death was cancer of the breast after an illness of five weeks.
Hannah VANDENBURG was born in Toronto, Canada, February 25, 1835, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.T. McCRACKEN, near Valley Falls, Kansas, February 6, 1915, aged 79 years, 11 months and 11 days.
She moved to the United States in early childhood, locating at DeWitt, Iowa, where she grew to womanhood and was married to William G. HATFIELD, September 5, 1852.
To this union were born five children, four of whom are living; Mrs. T.J. McCRACKEN, Valley Falls; Marshall HATFIELD, Leavenworth, Mrs. Robert BEATTIE, Joliet, Ill., and T.Q. HATFIELD at Pasley, Canada.
Mr. HATFIELD died in 1862. With here children she came to Valley Falls in 1880. For a number of years she lived on a farm near where she died. She was a member of the Presbyterian church and a widow for 53 years.
The funeral was held from the McCRACKEN home Tuesday morning, Rev. Chas. KIMBALL officiating at the services and via Kansas City the body was taken to DeWitt, Iowa, for burial by the side of her husband. He was a brother of the late T.A. HATFIELD.
