The Valley Falls New Era
January 13, 1916
End of Scott Keech.
>From Richmond, Cal., which is across the bay from San Francisco, the body of Scott KEECH was brought to Valley Falls last Saturday night for burial.
The last day of the old year he accidentally fell from a scaffold on which he was working, causing hemorrhage of the brain and his death New Years Day.
He was a bridge carpenter in the employ of the A.T.& Santa Fe Railway Co., at the time of his death.
Walter Scott KEECH, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter KEECH, well known here as early day settlers, was born at Valley Falls, Kansas, May 11, 1865, and died at Richmond, Calif., January 1, 1916, aged 50 years, 7 months and 21 days.
March 22, 1887, Scott was married to Miss Flora SMITH, at Valley Falls. To them were born four children. One died in infancy. His wife died February 22, 1899. He is survived by two daughters and one son.
After the death of his wife, Scott went to Denver, Colorado, where he made his home for a number of years. Three and half years ago he located in California.
His son, O.A. KEECH, lives at Richmond, Calif. His one sister, Mrs. Art CAREY, lives in Denver.
He was a member of the Woodmen and Royal Neighbors at Denver from which flowers were sent.
The funeral was held from the Christian church Monday afternoon, Rev. Chas. H. KIMBALL conducting the services.
The burial was in Rose Hill cemetery by his wife and parents.
