Dr. PECINOVSKY reports the birth of a 10 pound boy to Mr. and Mrs. John KELLY, Monday, January 17, 1916. His name is Leonard John.

Mrs. Hattie McCLURE who has been confined to her bed since New Years with la grippe, is much better and may be able to be up soon.

Stevens Building Burned.
The Stevens buildings on the east side of the square, occupied by Dr. STEVENS and E.V. GOODWIN's barbershop, together with the contents were totally destroyed by fire last Tuesday morning about 1 o'clock. Night Watch man STURGEON heard what he thought to be an explosion on the east side of the square and by the time he could get there the barbershop was one big blaze. Mr. GOODWIN carried $300 insurance on his fixtures and stock, but this will not cover the loss; and Dr. STEVENS had $300 insurance on his office, fixtures and drugs. The Doctor lost everything he had, including his text books, instruments and even his medicine case. The WILLILAMSON barn was saved and sustained but a small damage. The total loss to building and contents amounts to in the neighborhood of $2500. The origin of the fire is unknown.

Lawrence WELLS, the Meriden young man who was brought to Oskaloosa a week or two ago, on a charge connected with the burning of his home a year or more ago, and who was released on a bond in the sum of $1,000 was taken before the Probate Court Wednesday after an affidavit of lunacy had been filed against him. The court set the matter for hearing for yesterday. The young man appeared to be entirely rational while in the charge of the sheriff and spent Wednesday afternoon "tatting" in the sheriff's office.

A marriage license was issued out of the Shawnee county Probate Court last Tuesday to Addison REED and Bertha CHRISTIE, both of Meriden. The couple was married by the probabte judge the same day.
