Mr. Henry McCLURE while catching a playful horse, had his foot quite badly hurt by the horse stepping on it, since which he preambulates with a cane.

A very enjoyable time was had at Mr. Sam PEPPARD's last Monday, it being the twenty-sixth anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. PEPPARD's marriage. About twenty of their relatives and friends perptrated a complete surprise on them, coming in with well filled baskets of good things to eat, and also a large rocking chair, which Rev. CRYSLER presented in a very unique and pleasing manner. After this, dinner was announced and the table fairly groaned under its weight of good things to which all who were there did ample justice. It was late in the afternoon when the guests departed, thanking the hostess for the pleasant time they had enjoyed and wishing Mr. and Mrs. PEPPARD many happy returnsf the day. Mr. PEPPARD was absent on account of business and can never realize all that be missed. In the evening the young folks took possession and about twenty-five of them spent the evening in playing games, etc. Refreshments were served and the wee small hours were creeping on when they took their!
departure. All those who were present will always remember the occasion as a most pleasant one.
