The Valley Falls New Era
Thursday
August 8, 1907

Mr. and Mrs. C.W. ROYER visited friends at Topeka from Saturday until Tuesday. Mrs. ROYER got home that day but William didn't. They went to the S. Fe depot together and got separated. He heard the train to Valley Falls was half hour late and said he would step across the street to "see a man," leaving Mrs. ROYER in the waiting room. In less than ten mintues the train pulled out, William failing to get aboard. She came home alone and now has the laugh on her husband. He got home next morning but he, a model of sobriety, has not explained whether he was very thristy or that he "lid" was hard to lift.
