Obituary.
Mary Alice Hammer was born in Wayne County, Ohio, September 24th, 1854. Died at her home in Meriden, Kansas, February 5th, 1908, aged 53 years, 4 months and 11 days.
March the 21st 1887 in the city of Chicago, she was united in marraige to D.H. Fraser. Coming with her husband to their home in Meriden, where they resided until her death.
>From this union two daughters were born. Edith and Helen. She was converted and united with the Baptist church when sixteen years of age and has lived a consistent Christian life ever since. Though a member of the Baptist church she has been for a number of years closely associated with the workers of the United Brethren church of which her daughters are members. She was a member and an active worker of the Ladies Aid Society of this church. She has been a teacher in the Sunday School a greater part of her life.
She was a charter member of the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic, Meriden Circle No. 5.
She leaves a husband, two daughtes, one sister and one brother with a host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
Sister Fraser was one of God's noble women who are a blessing in this life. Few women in Meriden had come in touch with more lives than had Sister Fraser. She will be missed for her seat will be empty in the Sunday School, in the church and in the Circle she will be missed.
The funeral services were held in the United Brethren church Thursday at 2 o'clock Rev. T.D. Halbert officiating. The love and respect with which Sister Fraser was held in the community was shown by the large gathering of friends and neighbors who attended the funeral service as scarcely more than half could gain admittance to the church.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of the entire community.
