Local Items.
In the Probate Court.
Business in the Probate court has been decidedly slack this week and the Judge has about come to the conclusion that in one respect at least Jefferson county is like Heaven--"there is no marrying nor giving in marriage."
J.G. HORNING of Grantville made guardians settlement in the estate of Stella JOHNSON Monday.
Chas. C. LOW and Miss Alda DEWEY both of Osawkie received the Judge's permission to "double their joys and halve their sorrows."
The ice is four inches thick several places in Slough Creek and the boys and girls are having great times skating; several wagon loads going every evening. It is not often we have four inches of ice the first of December in this climate.
Oskaloosa lodge No. 52, K. of P. had an election of officers last Wednesday night for the ensuing term, at which time the following were chosen: B.P. DAVIS, C.C., T.H. DAVIS, V.C.; J.M. PENNINGTON, Prelate; Geo. HARMAN, K. of R. & S.; E.B. PATTERSON, M. of W.; W.N. BLEVINS, M. of F.; C.W. HUDDLESTON, M.of E.; H. B. SCHAEFFER, M. at A.
