Old Settler Dies.

Mrs. Mary L. FRIBLEY, widow of the late Daniel Fribley, died at her home 2 1/2 miles north of Thompsonville, Wednesday morning, February 14, in the 86th years of her age. Mrs. Fribley had been sick for some time, but was apparently better and death came with little warning. She died quietly and presumably without pain, as her son Charles found her dead in bed when he got up to start the fires.
The Fribleys came to Jefferson county, Kansas, in 1867, and hence were pioneers in the Sunflower State. They had five children, two dying in infancy. The living children are: Mrs. Virgel Kirby of Colorado, Willard A of Arkansas and Charles V., who has been living with his mother. Mrs. Fribley was devout Christian woman, respected by all who knew her, and her death is causing much sorrow.
The funeral services were conducted from the Thompsonville Methodist Church last Saturday afternoon, the pastor, Rev. Milton Thorne, having charge. He spoke from the text, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints," found in Psalms 116-15. The music was furnished by Mrs. G.M. Kunkel, Miss Genevieve Hurley, Mrs. Dean Shaw and Elmer L. Brown. The pallbearers were G.M. Kunkel, L.D. Cover, E.M. Reckards, Elmer L. Brown, H.A. Ploughe, Ira McGuire and Arthur McCoy.
The body was laid to rest in the Oak Ridge cemetery, north of Perry beside that of her husband and son Chancie. Mr. Fribley passed away in 1901.
