Last Saturday night Messrs. Wm. MONROE and Isaac FAIRHOLM, the fish warden, came from Oskaloosa to our burg on a little fishing excursion. The river was rising rapidly and they gave up the job. We watched to see that the fish warden didn't use any nets.

Will GABIER had a rather narrow escape Tuesday, while boating in his brother's orchard. he ran the boat under an apple tree and upset the boat, and when he found the boat meant business he climbed an apple tree, thus escaped the awful death of drowning.

A fishing party composed of Messrs. James and Robt. SMITH and Chas. GOLDEN came to our burg Monday afternoon form Oskaloosa. The met with rushing success along the fishing route considering the time they put in. They sercured one nice large fish weighing fifteen pounds. Some one asked Charles why he got some one to help him write a card to his wife to tell her that he really did catch the fish and to explain his absence.
