Mize--Patterson Wedding.
In a ceremony solemnized at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, December 18, at the Methodist Church in Oskaloosa, Kansas, Jacqueline Lee MIZE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Mize, became the bride of Virgil LeRoy PATTERSON, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Patterson of Oskalooa.
Rev. Ira Nicklin officated at the double-ring ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets of white gladioli, mums and candelabra.
Miss Nancy Peppard sang, "I Love You Truly" and "The Lord's Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Maxine Baker, aunt of the groom, who also furnished the processional and recessional wedding music. Organist Vange Sutton played the wedding march.
Flower girl, Jeanie Patterson, cousin of the groom, wore a dress of gold crystallete over gold taffeta. She carried a colonial basket of mixed fall flowers.
David Mize, brother of the bride, carried the rings on a white satin pillow.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of Chantilly lace and nylon net over white satin, fashioned with long sleeves, fitted bodice of lace and a sheer yoke of net outlined with seed pearls. The high neck line featured a small Peter Pan collar. The softly gathered skirt of net over satin was embroidered with tiny lace medallions ending in a Cathedral length train. A little half hat of Chantilly lace highlighted with seed pearls, held her full finger tipped length illusion veil. She carried a white Bible topped with a purple orchid.
Maid of Honor was Miss valera Jo McCabe, cousin of the bride. She wore a waltz length dress of crystallete over rose taffea. She carred an arm bouquet of white carnations with white streamers.
Miss Marlene Hedgepath and Miss Nancy Tripp were candlelighters. The wore dress of lime green crystallete over lime green taffeta styled like the maid of honor's. They carried flower decorated tapers.
All the gowns were designed designed and amde by the paternal grandmother.
Best Man was Vestal Patterson, brother of the groom. Ushers were Arnold and LeRoy Mize, brothers of the bride, and Bernard Patterson, brother of the groom.
Miss Lana McCabe was in charge of the guest book.
A reception was held in the church basement following the ceremony. The table was covered with a lace cloth made by the brides maternal grandmother. A four-tiered cake trimmed with red roses and silver leaves was flanked by heart-shaped candlehlders decorated with white lace and bronze mums.
The brides mother chose a Navy blue dress with navy accessories. Her corsage was a pink camellia.
The groom's mother wore a charcoal gray dress with black accessories. Her corsage was a pink camellia.
For traveling the bride chose a charcoal brown suit with avacado gree accessosries, and an orchid corsage.
After a wedding trip to the South, Mr. and Mrs. Patterson will be at home in Oskaloosa.
