Arrived Too Late.
Whit Laming did not arrive at his home in England in time to see his father alive. Mr. LAMING, the senior, died Saturday morning at his home in Spalding, and word of his death was received here the same morning by cablegram. Whit Laming landed in Liverpool Saturday afternoon.
Whit Laming, Sr., spent about twelve years of his life in and near Tonganoxie; and moved back to England about ten years ago. He would have been 77 years old the 17th of this month. His death was caused by cancer and he had been sick but six or seven weeks. While in London recently Mr. Laming became sick at his stomach and on his arrival home a physician was called who pronounced his malady cancer.
Mr. Laming leaves five suriving daughters, two sons and his wife. Tonganoxie friends deeply regret his demise. While Mr. Leming wa in Tonganoxie, he responded freely to calls for charity in an unostenatious way, and at least some of the Tonganoxie people will not forget his deeds in kindness.--Tonganoxie Mirror.
Mr. Laming was an uncle of Colt. STEEPER and Mrs. Wm. STOUT of this place.
