First frost of the season occurred Monday of this week. It was light on the uplands, not damage reported.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewie DAVIS and sons, and Miss Nina DAVIS of Topeka were visitors Sunday of Mrs. Belle DAVIS and Mrs. Nona CROSBY.
Mrs. W.H. PATRICK is spending this week in Topeka. She reported that Bill has been transferred from Camp Peavey, Va., to Camp Parks, Calif. He expected to arrive on the west coast last weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. R.F. THOMPSON of Pittsburg, Penn., announce the birth of a son on Friday night, October 6, to whom they have given the name of Ray. Grandfather and Grandmother MORROW are almost as happy as the young folks themselves over the new arrival.
Mesdames John SUTTON, Gertrude GOLDMAN, Addie GILBERT and Dorothy GABEL spent Monday in Kansas City. Mrs. SUTTON going to the Wholesale House for goods for the Variety Store.
Mrs. Fay BROWN of Lawrence was elected president of the Kansas State Association of hair dressers and cosmetologists at a recent meeting in Wichita.
Mrs. Frances CARSON enjoyed a visit this last week with her sons, Ferries of Jefferson City, Mo., was here on Sunday with Pfc Dale CARSON and wife from Camp Bowie, Texas, are making a more extended visit. Dale is now in the Field Artillery.
Walter CAREY, wife and their son, Clarence, and their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Walter CAREY, Jr., all of Denver, came Monday to spend the weekend at the Al. CAREY home. Walter senior is employed as a pressman with the Kistler Stationary company.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank POTTORF made a trip to Wichita by motor cycle over the weekend for a visit with relatives there. they were especially fortunate in being among the guests at the "Open House" held by the Boeing Airplane Co. and getting to look at a B-29.
