Dr. McCREIGHT reports a fine girl born to Terry GASKILL and wife Tuesday.

John O'ROKE took his daughter Miss Hattie to Lawrence Tuesday for medical treatment.

T.V. EDMONDS, the genial agent at the Northwestern depot is considerably under the weather this week.

Dr. SMITH was down at Topeka last week and had his tonsils cut out. As a result he was obliged to take his food in liquid form for several days.

The star of belligerency must surely have been in the ascendant this week as besides two contests before the board several parties came near indulging in fisticuffs.

A.M. HUNTER, our north side restaurant man, is looking for a chance to invest some money in a farm, if he can find one to suit, located in this garden spot of the world.

Attorney RAINES has moed his office from the County Attorneys office to the room occupied by Judge LEECH in the Union Block, and the partnership heretofor existing between PHINNEY & RAINES is dissolved.

Business in the probate court has been decidedly slack this week. Only one marriage license. That was issued to Wm. MICHAEL and Miss Anna SHAW both of Rock CREEK. John W. HARRIS is trustee of the LAYSON estate made annual settlement.

The PEEL boys who were accused of "pickpocketing" and discharged by Judge MYERS on a technicality at the last term of court, have been arrsted again on the same charge and their preliminary comes up before Judge LEECH next Tuesday.

Miss Bertha DANNER returned Monday from a weeks visit with relatives in Holton.

Trustee BUTLER, of Ozawkie, was in town Monday for his road lists and assessors books.

Mrs. GIBBS returned Tuesday from a visit with her daughter, Mrs. E. P. KARR at Valley Falls.

Prof. PLUMMER, principal of the Meriden Schools, was visiting the city schools here Tuesday.

W.J. WRAY and wife visited their daughter Mrs. LUEY in Kansas City over New Years day.

Mrs. E.S. BOMAN and Mrs. Wm. WILLIAMS of McLouth were shopping in the city Wednesday.

Ed. O'BRIEN of Nortonville and Chas. DAVIS attended the K.P. "doins" here Wednesday night.

Attorney A.D. HAYNES, of Perry was in town Wednesday assisting in the settlement of the MITCHELL land case.

Judge ABBOTT was up from Ozawkie looking as chipper as boy of 20. Age is an unknown quantity to Judge ABBOTT.

H.B. SCHAEFFER, H.T. PHINNEY and H.N. CASEBIER were in Winchester yesterday on legal business before Squire TALCOTT.

Lincoln WRAY is visiting friends in Easton, Mo., this week, his father, W.J. WRAY accompanying hime as far as Nortonville.

"Uncle Billy" FOWLER, of Fairview never forgets the printer about this time of year and made his regular call Tuesday while in town in business with the probate court.

Ben KYLE, the popular trustee of Rural township was a profitable called at The Times office Tuesday. We learn he had a fine come to live at his home New Years night.

E.P. KARR, of the New Era, came down from the Falls Monday to attend the meeting of the county board. He says it comes mighty hard for an editor to pay fare on a railway.
