Charley Bliss Dies In Tractor Accident.
Charles BLISS, 27, of the Chester neighborhood, in southern Jefferson county, was killed last Thursday afternoon when his tractor overturned and struck him on the head, instantly killing him. The body was found a few hours later by a little boy on the Fritz GANTZ place, where Bliss was using the tractor to pull up a log.
Cause of the accident was easy to see; the tractor had overturned on the edge of a bank, the driver had jumped but a wheel caught him striking him on the head and pinning him down.

Charles Alvin Bliss.
Was born July 3, 1917, at Dolano, N.M., son of Harry and Bessie BLISS, now living at Wichita, Kansas. This young man came as a boy of 3 years with his parents to Oskaloosa, Kansas, and has lived in or near this city since. His grandfather, Chas. P. BLISS, oldest man in Jefferson County, lives with us yet.
Chas. Bliss attended Oskaloosa High School graduating in 1936.
He met Miss Mildred SMITH in the Sunday School at the Chester School house community near Williamstown, and they wer married at Olathe, Kansas, by Judge ROBERTS, May 22, 1939. In this neighborhood they had made their home until Dec. 12, 1944, when the accident happened costing his life.
He was a farmer and hady man with tools, working both wood and metal. His own home testified to the many comforts and gadgets which he could provide by his own skill.
Chas. and Mildred Bliss have one daughter, Shirley Madeline, born July 18, 1940, who will be a great comfort to her mother. They had also lost one child one month ago. Chas. was baptized by Rev .A.H. TERBBEN and received into this church in 1928 when eleven year old and was a member here until his death.
Besides his wife and daughter, and parents, he is survived by an older brother Orin onow serving with Uncle Sam's army in France, by several uncles and aunts and a host of friends.

We wish to thank those who assisted at the funeral of our loved one, all who offered floral tokens and gave so many expression of sympathy in our bereavement.
Mrs. Chas. Bliss and Shirley; Mrs. and Mrs. Harry Bliss; Cpl. and Mrs. Orin Bliss.
