Receives Purple Heart.
Mr. and Mrs. John STEWART and family have received a letter from their son, Pfc Roy L. BLEDSOE, that he has been awarded the Purple Heart at an army hospital.
"Bud" as he is known by all his family and friends, has been in service since he joined the 35th Division of the National Guard at Lawrence on Dec. 5th, 1940. He has been with Gen. Patton's 3d Army in France until just before Thanksgiving when he was taken to hospital in France with his right ankle broken. Later he was removed to England where he has now undergone an operation.
Bud writes that he can get around fairly well now on his crutches.
This boy does love to hear from all of his old friends, so if anyone wants to send him a word of cheer his address is: Pfc Roy L. Bledsoe, ASN 207258044188. Hp--Apo 209, % Postmaster, New York, N.Y.
