Little Further Word About Bill Frisbie.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack FRISBIE, Grantville, who received word recently that their son S/Sgt Wm. H. Frisbie was missing in action on 23d December, have sought further word through Bill's commanding officer and through relatives of his crew companions, but have obtained onoy slight information.
A letter from one of the crew to his mother late in November stated their Marauder (B-26 med. bomber) had been on 65 missions during that month, taking off from a base in France; that the crew were then entitled to furloughs but decided to stay together and to go on until spring, when they might be relieved to come home either permanently or for a rest period. It was during the confusion incident to the German counteroffensive in December that the ship on which Bill was engineer-gunner led the squadron on a mission from which it failed to return. Following pilots could give no account of what happened.
Bill enlisted in February 1942, was stationed about a year at Sherman field, Ft. Leavenworth; later took training at Lincoln, Neb., Lake Charles, La., and in Florida; went overseas in March 1944 and flew his first combat mission in May.
