Wm. McCLACHERTY was born in Ontario, Canada, May 19, 1848, and died at this home on south Sycamore street Sunday, April 4th, being nearly 61 years of age.
"Mac" as he was known to everybody came to Atchison above thirty years ago and taught several terms of school near that place and Pardee, coming to Jefferson county about twenty-five years ago. He was married in 1892 to Alice ROBBINS, who with four children survive him.
"Mac" was a good hearted fellow but fortune persistenly refused to smile on him and though he was honest and hard working he failed to lay by anything for the rainy day that always comes.
The funeral was conducted from the house by Rev. I.A. WILSON Monday afternoon and the body laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.
The friends of the family have been generous in their assistance and deeply sympathize with the widow and fatherless in their loss.
