Les Brunton.
Lex Allen BRUNTON, third son of Etta and Ed Brunton was born on a farm near Ozawkie, Kansas on July 7, 1914, and departed this life, after an illness of almost a year, on Janaury 19, 1961, at the age of 46 years.
He first attended the rural school of Lowery and then his family moved to Ozawkie where he attended grade and high school. He was a life-long resident of Jefferson County.
He was united in marriage to Helen STEFFEY, daughter of Hallie and Roy Steffey at Ozawkie on may 14, 1939. To this union were born three sons.
Lex was a teacher in the Jefferson County schols from 1933 to 1951. In 1951 he left the teaching profession to become an employee of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka. He continued in the work until his death.
He was a good husband and father being always concerned with providing his family with the best of everything possible. He was highly respected by all who knew him. He was a faithful member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Ozawkie, and served for a time as teacher of a Sunday School class. He was also a member of the Pleasant View Grange.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed Brunton. He is survived by his widow, Helen and three sons, Max, Dale and Bryce, all of the home near Ozawkie; two sisters, Mrs. Enid SPIELMAN of Lawrence and Mrs. Fern VANDERPOOL of Ozawkie; three brothers, Leslie Brunton of Albuquerque, N. Mex., Mason Brunton of Perry, and Wayne Brunton of Kansas City, Mo.; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
