The Meriden Message

Ernest RAY visited Sunday with his mother at Overbrook. Mrs. Ray is able to sit up part of the time.
Eddie REED moved his family into the Manley house this week. Mr. GORDON moved into the Chubb house instead of the Manley house as previously stated.
Mr. CURTIS of Topeka moved into the GROSHONG place while the house on the McCoy farm is under unconstruction.
Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John B. SHAFFER last Sunday were Mr. J.I. SCHAEFFER of Topeka, Mr. and Mrs. W.P. HEMPHILL and son Wayne of Kansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Walter DICKENSON of Maple Hill, Mr. and Mrs. L.E. SCHAFFER and daughter Grace and Mr. and Mrs. A.C. KIOUS.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert DAVIS and daughter of Topeka spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. FLEMING.
The W.F.M.S. held an all day meeting at the home of Mr. J.E. MARKS, Tuesday, March 4. This was the occasion of Mr.and Mrs. MARKS' 34th wedding anniversary. Thirteen members and three guests were present. A lovely pot-luck dinner was served and a very interesting meeting was held in the afternoon. Late in the afternoon the guests were served ice cream and cake and then all departed wishing Mr. and Mrs. MARKS many more happy anniversaries.
Mr. and Mrs. C.W. McPHERSON of Topeka, Miss Trilby ROGERS of Kansas City were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Sam ROGERS this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray BACKUS have moved on the Jim GRIFFITH farm which they have rented for this year. Mrs. BACKUS was formerly Minnie RIDDLE.
Mrs. Cora BARNES purchased the Elmer McELROY house last week and the Kientz Brothers are tearing the old house down and will build a bungalow for Mrs. BARNES.
Mary GREEN, the 9-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L.A. GREEN, was taken to her home at Perry Tuesday. She is recovering rapidly from a fractured skull being hit by a truck last Monday noon when on her way to school. She did not fully regain consciousness until Thursday morning.
