"Olan SEAMANS, the hustling young farmer south of town was in Friday. "I
don't know" said he "whether my cattle feeding will bring me 50 cents for my
corn or not this year."
Rev. LUNSFORD and wife and Chet DILLMAN and wife left yesterday for Lincoln,
Kansas, to attend the meeting of the quarterly conference of the Mankato
District, Free Methodist Church.
In the case of State of Kansas vs. Thornton HENDRY, in which defendant was
charged with the theft of a saddle, the jury returned a verdict of not
guilty. G. H. BAILEY defended Mr. HENDRY.
Miss Nina HENDERSON spent a few days last week with friends in Formoso.
Will McCARTHY and Harold JOHNSON were up from Formoso Sunday visiting friends.
W. A. MATSON, E. D. FISHER and Chas. DURKEY were up to Mankato Wednesday
attending court.
E. L. GRAY and son Fred, of Jewell are in Kansas City this week attending the
automobile show.
A. L. STANLEY mail carrier on route four out of this city is taking a
vacation this week and Geo. BLISS is carrying mail for him.
J. H. BLAND, the piano man of Jewell was in town Wednesday making
arrangements to deliver the $325 contest piano to Miss HUGHES at Formoso.
L. W. CALDWELL
last Wednesday morning, L. W. CALDWELL died of pneumonia at Formoso, where he
went form his home here in Mankato during the early stage of the attack. Mr.
CALDWELL was an old Pioneer of Vicksburg township. He has lived in Mankato
only about two years, but has won a host of friends by reason of his
generosity, kindly ways, and cheerful spirit. His good wife departed this
life, a short time ago. Both are buried in the CALDWELL cemetery south east
of Formoso. A stalwart rugged, honest man, has answered the summons and gone
to be the guest of God.....(rest is missing)
