Subject: [KSJOHNSO] Looking for Leasa family
Date: Wed, 8 Nov 2000 19:18:56 -0600
We're looking for any information on the William and Amanda Leasa family.
They lived in Johnson County during the 1890 census and 1900 census. They
had 10 children - Margeret, Albert, Levi, Hattie, Bertha, Josie, Luther,
Anna, John and Wallace. We have information about Margaret only. She
married Arch Pretz and lived in Salina, KS. They were married prior to
1904.
The story we have heard says that William and Amanda were full blooded
Indians. Looking at available photos of Margaret, we can believe her
parents are of that heritage. However, we can not prove this. William and
Amanda list both West Virginia and Germany as their places of birth (each
census has something different). We don't have any maiden name for Amanda.
If you can assist in any way - even giving us some places to check - we'd be
most appreciative. Information on marriages, deaths, burials, etc. would be
welcome.
Thanks
Hope Benedict
