Missouri Death Certificates, 1910 1956 and Pre-1910---also birth records

http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/birthdeath/#search

This is amazing. You can actually pull up some of the authentic death
certificates for periods 1910-1956. And for the other certificates that are
not on the site, you can request copies. The pre-1910 gives cause of death,
place of birth, and some other data but not the image of the actual death
certificate. I just wrote the archivist/s to see if I can request a copy of
the death certificates for pre-1910. And I also asked if the 1906 death
record will give the name of the surviving spouse and parents of the
deceased. I'll let you all know what I find out.

As you all know, many researchers (including myself) have been confused when
searching Kansas City, KS and Kansas City, MO. Well, a miracle recently
happened in the name of Carol Kuse who just found the death record for my
great grandmother, Catharine Burke (nee Martin), and I'm ecstatic because it
has given me a new lead into the possible sibling/s of Catharine nee Martin.
Thank you, Carol.

Also, there is something else that has me a tad confused---Catharine Burke
(Martin) was a longtime resident of Johnson county, KS but she died in
Kansas City, MO while visiting her niece. Ironically, I couldn't find her
death record in Missouri and that's where she died. So, I guess her death
certificate is registered in Johnson county, KS. I just find that unusual
and wonder if it's legal.

Nancy Riley also deserves huge credit for this breakthrough for sending me
the 1900 cesus image for the niece of my Catharine Burke: Honora Keane and
spouse, Thomas Keane. This record plus an LDS search online has revealed so
much BMS information on the Keane and Scanlon families. I'm so relieved to
finally be getting somewhere with Catharine nee Martin. *deep sigh*

The new surnames I am searching for the Martin line are: KEANE (Kane, Kanes)
and SCANLON. They were born in Ireland and settled in Kansas City, Jackson
county, MI and I'm sure I'll find other family members in Kansas. Honora
Scanlon (the niece of Catharine Burke (nee Martin), married Thomas Keane aka
Keans, 11 JAN 1872, Saint Patricks, Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri. I'm
hoping to find out that Honor Kean's parents are Thomas SCANLON and Margaret
SCANLON who may be nee Martin---my great grandmother's sister. *fingers &
toes are crossed*

I just wanted to share my joy with everybody and post the Missouri site.

Carol
California
