What do you mean: "Is there a directory list for Labette Co. KS. for the
late 1800s,
specifically Chetopa?" What kind of directory? The best would be to check
the 1900 census for Chetopa. If you mean a business directory you might
contact the Chetopa Historical Musuem. Fannie Bassett is the curator there

Pearl Remington graduated from Chetopa High School in 1901.
I am curious about this Dennis Remington. Do you know his wife's name? If
it
was Prudence, b. ca. 1842, she is buried at Lake Creek Cemetery near
Bartlett
and her grave stone says "Grandmother". However there is no "Grandfather"
stone for this family so I have always wondered who her husband was. This
family lived two miles east of Bartlett and one mile south on the NE corner.
This farm is stilled referred to as "the Remington farm", although all the
buildings including the house are gone. A number of years ago an eldery
person in the area told me that "old man Remington" had died early on and
was
buried on the farm to the north west of the house, however I have walked
this
land three times and can not find any trace of a grave yard or a burial.
Another source you might want to check on this family is Dennis
Remington's Civil War pension file. He was in the war and drew his pension
while living in Labette County. I am currently abstracting Civil War
pension
files for Labette County but have not done his yet. If you are interested

getting copies of his papers please contact me at .
