THE BLOOMFIELD NEWS, Bloomfield, Greene County, Indiana, March 11, 1943, Volume LXVIII, Number 20, Page 7, Column 8, “obituary—William Harvey Drumheller.” [Transcribed May 17, 2003 from microfilm of the original newspaper on file in the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene County Public Library.]

William Harvey DRUMHELLER was born at Bloomfield, Indiana on Jun 7, 1861, and departed this life at his home in Altamont, {Labette County,} Kansas, on January 28, 1943, at the age of 81 years, six months and 19 days.

When a young man of 19, he came to Kansas and located at Erie {Neosho County} where he resided about 28 years and then moved to Altamont to make his home. As a farmer he was very successful and in 1910 was elected president of the Labette County State Bank and has been connected with the institution since that time.

He was united in marriage to Miss Sarah L. MOSES in 1880. To this union, four children, three daughters and one son were born.

During a meeting more than 20 years ago, under the leadership of Mr. and Mrs. George ROSE, Mr. DRUMHELLER declared his faith in Christ and joined the Christian church.

His only son, who was a great delight to his father, died when he was 20 years of age. It is a coincidence that Mr. DRUMHELLER’s death occurred on the 50th anniversary of his son’s birth. Mrs. DRUMHELLER preceded him in death on October 19, 1942.

Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Lula CROUGH of Altamont, Kansas, Mrs. Jennie SHOWALTER, of Twin Falls, Idaho and Mrs. Ada CHRISTMORE of York; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, who have the sincere sympathy of a wide circle of friends.

Funeral services were conducted in Altamont on January 28 by the pastor, Rev. D. Ira BEAMER. Interment was in Altamont Cemetery.
