Barbara Miller Vance Glassburn's granddaughter said she died on 3 Aug 1890 and she was buried under the name of Vance.

Barbara Vance's stone says that she is the mother of Thomas J. Vance. The tombstone gives her death date d. 31 August 1897; 92y, 11m, 23 days. This is completely different from what her granddaughter said....but tombstones are sometimes wrong. And sometimes little old ladies' memories aren't what they used to be. Perhaps the stone was put up years after her death.

Is there someone in the Dennis or Cherryvale area who could check the local newspapers of the time period and see if they can find an obituary or a funeral notice for me? It is believe that Barbara died just east of Cherryvale, Montgomery Co., KS in an area that is in Labette Co.
