Mrs. L. A. FISHER and son have returned from their St. Louis visit.

returning Tuesday.

Sheriff PERRYMAN was in town Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning posting
election notices.

G. W. RICH, of the Monument Observer, and a son-in-law, E. D. JOHNSON, of
Stratton, Neb., were in town yesterday.

A little Oakley two-year-old, hearing his parents arguing, said: "I fink
there's going to be a fight here in a minute."

M. LISTER, of Cabbell, dropped in on us Wednesday while on his way home from
Monument, where he had been working.

C. C. GILMORE, Logan county's affable register of deeds, was a GRAPHIC
caller today. He says that business in his office is dull.

The voters of Elkader precinct will take notice that the polling place at
the November election will be at the HANDLEY house.

Ed CARTER, of the Weskan Weskansan, attended the ministerial association
meeting Wednesday night and of course called on us.

We were honored today with a call from Senator Hill P. WILSON, who is on his
way home from a campaigning tour northwest of here.

A. I. HAKES shipped his goods and stock Tuesday morning to his new home in
Waubaunsee county, Kan. U. RICHARDSON accompanied him.

A. W. GANNETT, of Spencer, O., is visiting his daughter, Mrs. J. R.
HUMPHREY. Mr. GANNETT will pass the winter with Mr. and Mrs. HUMPHREY.

Hoxie's kick in the matter of insufficient train service on the L & C. has
at last borne fruit.--Colby Tribune. That's exactly what Sam DAVIDSON thinks.

follows: For BAKER, 109; McNALL, 23; undecided, 5.

We accompanied A. C. TOWNE to Cabbell Monday night, where he delivered a
rattling speech to a full house. He stirred up the ring outfit with a
sharp-pointed ladle and had the interest and close attention of his hearers
throughout. We are under obligations to Mr. and Mrs. KIDDOO for courtesies.

W. S. HARRISON returned home Thursday evening from Kansas City bringing a
wife with him. He is receiving the congratulations of his friends
today.--Ellis Review. Well that fully explains that stand-up collar, that new suit of
clothes and that 10x12 smile HARRISON was wearing when we saw him boarding an
east-bound train at Ellis a short time ago. Here's looking at you, HARRISON,
and wishing yourself and Mrs. HARRISON all the earthly happiness possible.
May your troubles be little ones.

Mr. and Mrs. T. H. PORTER were at Oakley Tuesday.

Marion BROYLES, of Norton county, has begun the erection of a new stone
residence for his brother, G. N., on his farm, 1 mile east of town.

Mollie PORTER's "barrel" arrived at last after taking a trip into Missouri
and from the conglommerated (sic) condition of its contents it must have been
over the Ozarks.

A. C. TOWNE delivered his "spicy" campaign speech at our school house Monday
night to a large and enthusiastic alliance audience. C. V. KINNEY was down
with him in the capacity of body guard. Other alliance candidates present
were Messrs. BRADLEY and BAXTER.
