Kay, are you familiar with the Ottawa History Book done in 1984? there is an article about CB ROTHROCK not Rotrock...from the Minneapolis Messenger 1934.
BRIEFLY: One of 7 children born to David Sherwood and Gertrude Rothrock in MS, was 10 when the family moved to IL, where he served 3 years in the cavalry. He and brother, Ferdinand published teh Sparta Representative.In 1871 he came to KS and his brother Manfred and he worked on the Herald in Salina. They established the Independent and teh Minneapolis Messenger. Due to ill health he switched to contracting and built the railroads in the area as well as several Minneapolis building excavations. He was founder of Farmers Store, Farmers Telephone. Farmers Union organizer, member Kenesaw Post GAR, Married Mary Jane Pruitt, children: Manford W, Chas S., William W, Robert R, Neva, Reva, Gertrude E (Morand), and two daughters who died in infancy.
