I am searching for my gfathers bio parents. Turl Cooper was born 4-26-1902 and adopted by Edward(Edgar)Cooper and Nettie Brooker. Edward and Nettie were married in 1906,so I am not sure at what age Turl was adopted. Turl was raised in Greenup,KY but I found the family on the 1910 Miracode Index in Campbell,Newport KY with Edward 41, Nettie 37, Edna 14, Lester 12, Cecil, Turl 8, Louise 5, and James 4. My gmother always said he came from the Applegates, but I have no proof of that. I was told by someone at the KDLA in Frankfort,KY that adoptions were not formalized as today until the 1930's and I might find something in the Administrator's,Guardian's and Appraiser's Appointment Book(from Greenup or Campbell)at the archives in Frankfort. I live out of state making this hard to do. Could anyone from that area help me out and see if they could find something in that record for me? Thanks so much for your help.
