Subject: [KY-CEM] Final Resting Place

During my last visit to Maysville, Kentucky, I located
a burial ground for former slaves and children of
slaves behind Lees Chapel United Methodist Church in
Lewisburg, Mason County, Kentucky. It is in pretty BAD
shape and no markers exist to help one find the place.

The only headstone I found was that of the following
family:

Lucion O'Banion 1858-1931

Margaret O'Banion 1860-1950 (wife)

Luttie O'Banion 1879-1925

Garry O'Banion 1881-1896
Dora O'Banion 1881-1896

Winnie O'Banion 1885. Was told by locals that this person
moved to Dayton, Ohio.

Bell Hester 1894-1896

Lue Syntha 1897-1898

Anna O'Banion 1898. Was told that this person is Anna
COTTON who is buried in the Old Washington cermetary .

Cora O'Banion 1901-1902
Clair O'Banion 1901-1902

Given the birth years, one should note that the
parents gave birth to two sets of twins.

I have also been advised that the following other
persons may have been buried there as well:

R. ROBINSON
Harvey TAYLOR
Nate SMITH
O. TIBBS
Fannie CHEEK TIBBS
Henry JONES
George JACKSON
Henry WILLIAMS
Ted ROBINSON
West TOLLIVER

Please advise as to what can be done to mark and
preserve this historical site.
