My great-uncle Albert Taylor worked for Kanawha & Hocking Coal. Co. We were told he died as a result of a mining accident May 28, 1918 in Charleston General Hospital, Charleston WV.
We haven't been able to figure out why none of his brothers or family members were listed as Informant on the death certificate. There is a signature on his death certificate - could it have been someone representing the coal company?
We also see that the initials of this person are also directly under the physician's signature? Was this a "normal" happening back then? Could she have been a representative from this company? Albert never married so she would not have been a next-of-kin. Where could I find out more information about this company...?
Thanks for any help on this. - Deb
