Letcher Deaton, 95, of Ricetown, Kentucky, widower of Addie "Bea" Gabbard Deaton, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2001, at the Memorial Hospital in Manchester, Kentucky. He was born August 7, 1906, in Breathitt County, Kentucky, to the late Lee and Easter Turner Deaton, He was a retired farmer and attended the Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a son, Gary Deaton of Ricetown, Kentucky; four daughters, Easter Gabbard of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, Charity Bishop of Maineville, Ohio, Maggie Bowling of Hamilton, Ohio and Mossie McIntosh of Booneville, Kentucky; two brothers, Roger Deaton of Buckhorn, Kentucky and James Deaton of Booneville, Kentucky; two sisters, Patsy O'Dowd of Lexington, Kentucky, and Betty Gabbard of Ricetown, Kentucky; six grandchildren; give great grandchildren; and a host of friends and relatives.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Langley Deaton; and two sisters, Georgia Edwards and Polly Gabbard.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 6, 2001, at 11:00 a.m., at the Booneville Funeral Home, with the Rev. Junior Combs officiating. Visitation Monday evening, at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Burial in the Esau-Gabbard Cemetery, Indian Creek, with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Fred, Gary Wayne, and Jimmy Clifton Deaton, David, Bobby, and Junior Gabbard, Melvin Gabbard, Jr. and Henley McIntosh.
