My great grandfather George W. Smith, I was told came out of Milton Ky or there abouts. His first owner, I know of was a Mr Carico, who kept him for 10 years, and sold him to a Mr Smith (1st name may have been Gayland),he kept him for approximately 25 years, then around 1865, he gave my great grandfather his freedom. He then, by way of the Underground railroad, was placed on a train around New Albany, Ind. He got as far as North Vernon, Indiana, there he was met by a Quaker (Mr Joshua Milhouse)He will settle around Bigger township in Indiana). George Smith had a very large family (Over 10 children).
