Dear Bath Co. Researchers:
A few weeks ago, I had the fortunate opportunity to visit Bath County. To
those of you on the list that live in Bath County, it is a beautiful part of my
home state Kentucky. Also I want to thank the gentleman in the County
courthouse who loaned me the map and the lady in the property tax office that
let me study the large map on the wall. I was able to approximate the location
of the Hendricks cemetery with little trouble.
Next to Mrs. Vice's daughter-in-law for showing me the precise location of the
cemetery. Unfortunately, the late hour and my aged parents did not give me the
time to explore that overgrown cemetery in quite the way that I wanted to do.
However, I have a list of the inhabitants which I am currently compiling for
submission to the Bath County GenWeb page. If someone in Bath County can
contact the owners of the Hendricks Cemetery over on Hendricks road, I will be
happy to donate funds to assist in the rehab and upkeep of that cemetery.
As a matter of interest, I discovered a query on the Rogers List regarding a
native of Bath County who was buried in that cemetery, Artemissia Butler Rogers
widow of Silas Rogers (and my great-great-great-Aunt). The query written last
year asked for her maiden name and location of her grave. I not only could
provide the maiden name but a substantial amount of family history, the year of
her death (1912) , and the location of her grave in Bath County.
