Hi folks,

All this work on my Thompson families has paid off. After 15 years, I
know the name of the father of my George Washington Thompson! I knew
from an old letter and conversations with my Great Aunt Mary Burns, that
my great, great-grandfather (her grandfather), G. W. Thompson, had a
half-brother named Jack who had three sons, Walter, Lee, and Richard.
Except for a few scattered census records, I never could find anything
on Jack. In 1850, I had found a Jackson Thompson in David and Nancy
Thompson's household, but I didn't know if I had the right guy. Well, I
learned from some deeds that Jack signed his name, J. J. Thompson. From
this, I was able to locate an 1816 death certificate for J. J. Thompson.
The information included on it was reported by Walter. He named Jack's
parents as DAVID THOMPSON and NANCY PARKS!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now I still have to figure out who G.W.'s mother was. A David
Thompson married a Jemima Smith in Bath Co. in 1824. Does anyone know
anything about this marriage? I have some other clues that I'll post
later, in hopes that someone will recognize something.

For now, remember to keep plugging away. The information is out there.
It just has to find you.

Have a good day,
Elizabeth
